Manila, Philippines – Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo personally appeared at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday to submit her counter affidavit addressing multiple charges filed against her by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

The preliminary investigation, conducted earlier today, centered on accusations of tax evasion, falsification of public documents, and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Atty. Nicole Hamilla, one of Guo’s legal counsel, stated that the counter affidavit outlines Guo’s defense against the allegations. Hamilla emphasized their commitment to disproving the claims and presenting evidence that would clear her client’s name.
Guo, however, declined to provide any statement during her appearance, citing legal advice. Under heavy guard by personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), she was transported to the DOJ in an ambulance. Following the preliminary investigation, she was promptly returned to the Pasig City Jail Dormitory, where she remains in custody for separate charges linked to the alleged operation of illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
The embattled former mayor has faced increasing scrutiny over the past months, with several agencies mounting legal actions against her. The DOJ has yet to release a statement regarding the next steps in the ongoing proceedings.
